how are you doing I haven't even decided, which page I'm going to color today I, was gonna color this one but I don't, know if this is what I want to color, today or not I might color this one I, might color this one because I think I'm, going to use a method today that I, haven't done and this is a really really, detailed page hey Tim civets this is a, really detailed page and I don't want to, color it that way I want to do gradients, so today I think I'm going to I don't, think I know I'm gonna do this right I'm, gonna do this because we're all set up, my question is whether or not it's going, to be successful or not so this is just, gonna be a big experiment and why not, why not make mistakes live right because, there's nothing wrong with that we're, all gonna figure this out together, so today I think hey Tim how are you I, think I'm gonna do this coloring page, today which is a super my issue with, this one on live stream was it's really, detailed and I I don't want you guys to, not be able to see the art you know what, I mean, so if you think this is too detailed, please do let me know and we won't color, it what do you guys think if anybody's, in here we have Corinne and Tim I'm not, sure if you guys are both still here or, not but if anybody's in here can you let, me know if you think that this is too, detailed like can you not see that, detail on this or can you because I'm, actually not going to color in the, specific little lines I'm gonna do like, a smooth gradient situation hey Mel me, dream on let's start so hello you guys, oh hello I hope you're having a good day, this is live coloring with Kathy I've, been doing this for uh we're going on a, week now I think I'm still sort of, figuring out a good time hey Mel me how, are you thank you so much for coming I'm, doing life coloring today and thank you, do you think it's too detailed cuz I can, pick a less detailed one the thing is, okay my live streams are an hour because, that's Instagram, police right Instagram rules you can't, even put an IG TV up I mean uh yeah you, can't put an IG TV TV up that's longer, than an hour so it's kind of pointless, to cool go for it I'm gonna I'm, listening to you let's do it so you, can't even do an IG TV longer than an, hour so it doesn't even make sense for, me to you know do this do a live stream, for longer than an hour, not that you know thanks Tim okay cool, as long as you guys can see like I just, wanted to make sure that it wasn't like, a big blur like a mush like a bunch of, pixels so cuz I know you know the live, streaming doesn't always come out super, depending on our connections it's not, always detailed so today I'm doing this, page and this page is in one of my, coloring books I'm going to show you, right now so I think it's in this one I, have self guidance and self-reliance and, it's not in this one it's in self, guidance so let me see if I can okay not, prepared that's okay let's just color, this so so this is in self guidance one, of my coloring books my name is Kathy, I'm an artist, I design products but I, love to design colouring books too and I, have a bunch of them up on courageous, coloring calm which is my coloring, website and and I recently do to our, lovely kovat 19 quarantine situation put, up a page with a lot of coloring pages, that are free for you guys so you can, check that out at I actually made a, bitly link for it it's bitly slash, courageous pages hold on let me see if I, can find it here areas fitly slash, courageous pages so there's lots of free, coloring here and if you go to the, website your this will take you to, courageous coloring when you go there, there's a resources page and on that, page I just put up yesterday a big page, full of artists free coloring downloads, so today we're gonna use I'm trying, something different today well I like to, mix it up you know so today we're gonna, use these marabou art crayons and fabric, castile gelatos now if you've been, watching and if you haven't if you, haven't that's totally fine obviously, but if you have been watching then you, know how much I love neo colours which, are these are Karen - neo colors these, are pastel crayons they're fabulous and, I love them I also love the packaging, okay this is simple it's easy it's it's, green okay, this packaging not so green I don't, think I'm gonna be buying these again, because I it really bothers me that, there's so much plastic on this but I, have them and these two I'm not I'm just, not wild about these packaging and I, don't I think there's we can innovate, this right there's other things we can, do right to make these less wasteful, anyway we're still using them today, because I have them and because I need, to use that the difference between these, and these are actually kind of in the, same bucket these two different brands, these two different products actually as, I was just saying I use these quite a, bit these Karen - neo colors and how, these differ is these are like a little, bit more depending on the color these, and these are a little bit more, transparent and the pigment load is a, little bit less so they're more kind of, glide II and gel ish of course these are, a little bit they you know they probably, tighten up when they get older so, they're less a little bit less of what I, just said of all those things a little, bit less let me give it I just want to, do some testers here okay alright so, they're easily smudged see so which I, thought this would be a really good, thing to use on a page that's very, detailed but that I don't want to go in, and just, do all the little coloring in these, little lines like I want to do big soft, sort of gradations around on this on, this piece so you see what I mean if I'm, shaking the screen I hope not but um so, these are smudgy and I have this little, tool I haven't used this yet for what, I'm doing today but I want to see oh, that's pretty good I want to see how I, can use this as a little smudge tool and, then I also have these little stumps so, you can smudge with that too so we're, just gonna play around today and see, what we can come up with so you see this, one is I don't know if you actually if, you can see this but this particular, color is more it's actually more, transparent I know it is opaque but it's, there's like a transparent quality to it, it's um smudgy smudgy and I works well, with that so with this sort of technique, I would think so we're gonna just play, around and see how it goes, look at that I love I love these I love, them I love fluorescent okay I just do, so yeah so we're gonna do this we're, doing it let me um I'm gonna just pin, down this page a little bit better, because it's not in a book and I want to, make sure it stays in one place so I'm, probably not gonna start out with any, dark colors maybe I'll add some later, for accents not really sure but let's, just pick out so up right now what I'm, gonna do is I'm just gonna dump out all, the em darker darker ones all the darker, colors are just gonna get rid of at the, moment and then we can you know decide, later if we're gonna add those back in, but I do still have this so I'm gonna, that looks a little bit dark too so I'll, just get rid of that this actually might, be too dark that's dark forget it go, away uh yeah, and this one let's see about this that's, a borderline I think that that might, actually be okay, so let's keep that one because that's a, good one okay so we have those and then, I think these might be this no right, okay so we have one that's a little bit, lighter alright that's a nice that's, good so the quality of like I don't even, know I don't have the ingredient list, release but I believe these two products, to be very similar in ingredients the, fabric has del gelato and the marabou, art crayon they both have that slick, sort of well this one's a little bit, less slick but this one has sort of a, slicker quality sometimes and it's, easier to smudge but this one's really, easy to smudge too and it also has that, transparency that you want that we're, looking for today anyway, so but it's a little bit less slick but, it still has some of that you know mo, Lian's to it so you're able to move it, around which is really nice so I'm, here's something else that's interesting, look at how dark this looks but then it, actually isn't that dark so these are, gonna be fun to use so let's jump in I'm, gonna keep my um test paper first, actually just give me one second while I, move all of my rejects over here and, this here so people can see it and every, day I am posting my daily coloring, therapy which is what this is going to, be when it's done so you'll be able to, go to my feed see that you can go to my, IG TV and look at past lives and all, that so I'm Melea I'm sort of I'm having, a lot of fun doing lives and I, definitely want to continue doing this, but, I got to figure out like I have a few, things I want to figure out so I'm just, gonna start laying down color as I'm, talking and then we're gonna smudge a, little bit as we go I think we'll see, what happens see what happens here so I, have been really enjoying doing lives, here live streams I also have a YouTube, channel it's Cathy Weller art and I have, never livestream there and I'm thinking, maybe I should try to livestream there, like that might be a good place for me, to also livestream so then I'm thinking, okay what would that schedule look like, you know what I mean so if you guys hey, Amy how are you um so if you guys are on, YouTube if you watch YouTube let me know, because I am curious how much crossover, there is between here and YouTube um I, don't know I don't know I'm still, figuring stuff out you know what I mean, I don't know we're always figuring stuff, out, hey Connor oh my gosh it's so good to, see you Amy we have to talk man oh my, god Amy and me worked together for a, really long time that's well I'm not, gonna talk about that right now because, I want to protect her privacy in case, she doesn't want to you know I think if, she doesn't want that information out um, yeah but yeah she's she's my old buddy, so I'm just gonna be stumped in this and, seeing how this goes so luckily this is, out of my printer I like using my, fingers to actually maybe I'll just do, that the fingers might work better um so, I can still see the line which is great, and see how transparent this is it's, very cool, how transparent is and this is actually, really really like fun it's just kind of, a fun thing to do and it's a little bit, unconventional because this is not, usually how we color right but this is, our color and today so one thing I think, would be cool to do for this is to do it, all to do a background like this and, then go in after with some with some, lighter colored neo colors like maybe a, white because they're very opaque, although I think I only have C I always, can I not help bringing out the neo, colors no I cannot do I do this all the, time yes I do I can't help myself so I, always talk about these two so please, forgive me if I sound like a broken, record but neo colors these are from, Karen - they're pastel crayons and they, come in an either neo color 1 or neo, color - the ones are not water-soluble, the twos are and the twos are there's, just I think probably because they're, like more glide II because they have, like more they have more glide II, properties like them were emollient than, the ones because they're water-soluble, but that also gives them sort of a, little bit more of a it gives them a, little bit more of a tooth I guess or, like a grippy the it sinks into the, fibers more and then you get a little, tiny bit more of an opaque look it's, really probably more noticeable, depending on the what you're drawing on, like what you're layering so if that, makes any sense so you know it might not, be as it might not be quite as opaque if, it's over somewhat you know one type of, surface rather than another type of, surface for the ones but the twos are, pretty juicy I guess if you can say if I, can say that yes I will say that so, they're a little more juicy, but they're also a little more grippy so, something about the Neo color choose, have a little bit more of a grip in them, but I don't think like the average, person who's not you know who's not you, know investigating their art supplies, and one would notice something like that, but or who's not you know caring about, what something how something works on, one surface or another surface if you've, previously put something else on that, surface or not so I'm talking about, layering and mixed-media here and I'm, sort of talking in a secret code or, something I don't know so please forgive, me for that so I'm uh if I had it to I'm, not sure that I have a neo color - in, white but I think I only have one and, white right now which I don't think is, really gonna work over top of this a, little bit a little bit but I think a, two would really go for it like I think, if I had a neo color - white I could, really dig in to these and carve out, some cool stuff after I do this because, these are kind of a little bit there's, like a very slight bit of like oiliness, to them this is actually a really good, use for this um for this product for, this crayon is just sort of doing a, field a color field gradient on the, bottom and then we're gonna see how, things go if I have time to go into it, because I have to keep my live stream to, an hour because Instagram police but so, yesterday I just got a little idea oh, it's an idea it had been brewing a, little bit but I had been going man I, have built a lot of websites in my time, and I'm I just don't enjoy it anymore, also so I tend to not want to build a, website mess with my website you know do, stuff like that it's sort of a barrier, for me just because I just I'm just I've, spent a lot of time like troubleshooting, tech stuff and, I'm not a techy person but I've you know, gone a long way learning a lot of that, stuff just so I could sort of do my own, thing and it really does exhaust me like, still like I'm still like okay I can do, it do I want to do it do I do I really, want to spend all day on this no I do, not you know like find another way to do, something so you know find an, alternative or do like do the easiest, thing I could do so I don't have to sort, of get into the Nitty Gritty because I, also tend to get into the details a lot, as you might notice from the drawing of, this page which is all very detailed and, super detailed so for a coloring page, but I also tend to you know I can drive, myself crazy with getting the details, and getting everything right and all, that stuff so which is that's another, way to shoot yourself in the foot so we, don't want to do that ever we want to, avoid that and so I sometimes with some, things like building out a website or, stuff like that um I will say this for, the courageous coloring website because, I just started fixing it up a little bit, when I started that website I really, wanted to do like super simple super you, know super easy because I I had this, great idea to put a whole bunch of stuff, on that site and then I was like oh my, god that's way too much work like that's, just way too much work for me I was, gonna have you know news resource page, all this stuff and I'm just like why am, i what's the point again of all this why, am I doing this this is just going to, totally exhaust me so idea I never did, it until recently so although it's still, not what it this is my stream of, consciousness coloring day set coloring, live stream guys so how do you like it, anyway so anyway long story short I have, added some stuff to the courageous, coloring, website I added a page of free coloring, pages of artists it's a really good, place for us to all be able to go get, some free coloring therapy during, quarantine so why not this is coming out, really cool man oh my god I love this, this is really cool if I do say so, myself, I really like this um I think I'm gonna, put more purple down here and this is, really nice I love it so this is, actually a really good use of these, marabou crayons because I've used them, in different projects but I just never, been nuts about them you know they're, like they're like never enough of one, thing and too much of another it's that, kind of a thing like I just can't really, find they're not a go-to for me okay I, think they're just like they're there, and how am I gonna use is you know you, know there's things like that like you, just don't gravitate toward them all the, time but you're like okay I have these I, would like to use them how can I use, them so alright so let's see how we can, go into this so I'm gonna select because, I cannot stay away from the Neo colors, as you know I'm gonna select a couple a, few colors out of here just to see light, colors because they have to be light if, I'm gonna show up this is never really, opaque but we're gonna see I don't have, I just wish I had a neo color to in I, just wish I had a neo color to that was, actually white but I don't think I do, sorry I just bumped you um let's try, this one, oh this is a lighter okay good this is, one of my go-to is it's a gray and I, don't know I don't know about that one, all right we'll see all right let's just, move forward with what I have here so, let's see we have a 1 we have this is a, 2 this is a 2 I favor the twos in case, you didn't gather that already um I'm, gonna look back on this livestream and, I'm gonna be like what what did I talk, about Oh what was that, so okay I'm gonna pin my paper down, again so it doesn't move around on me, and then we're gonna start so this is, just a hard cardboard backing so when I, color it's not gonna be soft so I can, color on something hard so I just want, to see how this is gonna work so so far, it's working okay my thought is that if, I if I dried this page like for 24 hours, or even having a day even a day like 12, hours I think I might have better luck, with the NiO color to sticking I just, and I'm getting a more getting a more, opaque a more opaque color out of this, let's try the white cuz this is kind of, it still got a little slick oiliness, anyway this is what I was trying to, explain before but I was having trouble, and yeah so this is not that this is the, one neo color one which is not, water-soluble and it's a little more, waxy the neo color twos are a little, more creamy so and they they're able to, grip a little bit better for some reason, you know some something in the material, makes them able to grip better to your, paper fibers and I guess it would stand, to reason that they would grip better to, paper fibers which have been, compromised which is this paper because, all the fibers have oil in them now from, the crayon that I just used on them but, oh you know would be cool on this oh my, gosh like oh if I had it handy I would, totally grab it a white pen let me see I, don't think I have one that's super, Within Reach right now because I have, lighting and all this stuff but that, would be such a cool idea let me see if, I have anything in my little bag here I, don't think I do but here's the what's, in my bag edition of gala room with, Kathy wife Kathy okay here's what I have, in my bag I have two of these pencil, brush pens I have the pilot doctor grip, if you ever want to know what my go-to, supplies are these are them then I have, a Rando Rando Rando Rando and then this, is fun and I bought this at the pencil, Enterprise pencils I think that's what, it's called us in New York City and this, is a co eco sport pencil check this out, this is very cool this is very cool look, at that so it's like a mechanical pencil, but it's like a really thick lead I just, think this is a fun little novelty and I, use it sometimes I don't use it a lot, like for it's not like a everyday go to, but it's enough of a go to that I put it, in my I put it in my little bag because, it's just fun and I like to sometimes, just it's fun when you want to stay away, from getting too detailed and this cute, little baggie I got at Strand in New, York City the Strand book store isn't, that cute it's one of my favorites it's, also a hint at a future coloring because, I have some coloring pages that are, really cute that I'm gonna put up soon, as a digital download which I've never, never offered before, I've never offered digital downloads, and I'm gonna start doing that because I, think in this sort of life we're living, right now you got to move to the moment, you know what I mean you have to adapt, and work with what is helpful for people, and digital downloads don't need to be, shipped from Amazon, you're not gonna clog up the supply, chain not that I would clog up the, supply chain right let's get real but, you know what I'm saying it's just do I, want to be a part of the problem or do I, want to be part of the solution that's, sort of that's sort of my thinking on it, so that's what I am doing and I haven't, put those up yet I do have free coloring, pages for you for your quarantine, coloring fun on courageous coloring calm, and you can find the free ones of mine, at courageous pages but it's actually if, you just go to courageous coloring calm, there's a big green button that says you, know download quarantine coloring pages, and then if you also go to the resources, page that is a page that I just just, just just just put up of all independent, artists coloring pages and for free and, they're all they're all by name so you, can see you just there's the let me show, you I will show you shall we because I, have my iPad right here and I can just, show you so let's go here all right so, if I go to here's courageous pages so, these are all the coloring pages that's, you can get that I've designed for you, and then these are all free downloads, and then if you go here to the resource, page you get to a page here where these, are all if I scroll up I mean if i zoom, up for you so you see you can click and, you can download this page so you see, the picture of the page and then the, name of the person who Illustrated it, and then here's my book so if you would, like to see my books so these are let me, take a moment to show you my coloring, books and then there's me, so alright let me put this back over, here and then we're gonna get back to, work on this get back to work on this, page okay so one thing that would be, cool to try for this is if I could grab, a white pen so I'm just going to grab, white pen let's see okay this has one of, those tips that I hate I don't think, this one's gonna work because the tip is, like alright go away alright so today, we're gonna do with the crayons and then, I think in the future I'm gonna do this, with marker over like a white that white, paint pen over this because that's, really gonna make this pop and it's, gonna look so cool oh my gosh I just, discovered this new technique I love it, you guys that is so cool this is why, it's so cool to just sit here in live, stream with you guys cuz you just, discover these new things so this might, be our good one to sort of go back into, later so hey let's do this again on this, page so let's I'm gonna save this one, for another day when I have my white, paint my white paint pens and we're, gonna do this but today we're gonna do, the gradient to this one again how does, that sound because I think we're gonna, get more value from our time together if, we do it that way so I will continue and, do the process that I did on this, Paige I'm gonna do on this page and this, page is up on my website and it's free, for you to download and color so have at, it so this is just how I did the field I, just did a big gradient field and I'm, using fabric Castell gelatos and I'm, using marabou art crayons so one thing, that I learned from that page is I don't, want to put blue and orange next to each, other so I'm gonna put edge let's do, that over here try and keep it far away, try and keep that Orange quarantined, over there so it doesn't affect any, blues or purples it's a purple over here, alright I'm just gonna go in with my, fingers here because I was using some, smudge tools but I really enjoy just I, think it's just I just think it's more, effective using your fingers and you get, a lot more done in a short period of, time which is nice, and, this is quite smudgy so this um these, marabou crayons or at least this green, is like definitely it's very like, emollients I know I've said that word a, bunch of times but it's very like really, I mean it doesn't leave whale on your, page or anything but it's a very it's, very oily which is good because it makes, it easier to smudge but it's just good, to note that when you're using something, that's this emollient it's going to need, either it's going to need some time to, cure before you use other stuff over it, or or you might not be able to use stuff, over it ever so or certain things you, know like for instance those neo color, twos I can't really use that on top of, this right now it's not it's not working, because of the slick surface it's kind, of like waiting for paint to dry you, know I think I think that's how it's, going to work out I know that with time, this but this um this stuff is gonna, sort of cure onto this paper and it will, what that means is it just will you know, dry sink in get comfortable you know so, you can use other stuff over it after, that point but right now it's a little, it's not really quite there yet so okay, I got some weird brown situation in, there from that purple this purple has a, funny type of a pigment in it that, wherever you draw it you see the line, and then when you smudge it probably, have some yellow on my fingers there, when you smudge it you can see like the, ghost of the line, she's interesting I think only if you, use it on like virgin paper though like, where I hadn't used anything else I, could see it more than other places but, it's interesting so this is kind of um, neat because it's very interactive this, is very interactive very interactive um, if you're wanting to learn more about, these materials I have a video on, YouTube where I try out and review these, marabou art crayons and unless I'm, remembering incorrectly I do think that, I talk about the fabric castel-jaloux, does a little bit and that one too and, sort of compare and contrast a little, bit so definitely check that out my, youtube channel is Kathy Weller art and, I think I'm a little quiet today, usually I'm Way more talkative talking, about either talking points that I had, prepared or just sort of off on a little, bit of a tangent you know so but today I, guess I'm a little more quiet which is, okay some days some days you're just, feeling a little more quiet well I hope, it's not too boring for you guys but if, it is well hopefully if I if I am able, to save the replay, if Instagram doesn't eat it then I will, put it up the live stream I did a couple, of days ago I really enjoyed, I really enjoyed what I wrote my page I, really enjoyed my talk on, that one because I talked about some, really I talked about some really, important things to me and like over how, you overcome things and there was a, really good one I really enjoyed it a, lot and I actually I actually edited it, a little bit in a good way like added, links and stuff to it so that okay this, crayon did not work over so this already, has all the fibers filled up from the, marabou and the marabou is are a little, bit wax not wax here they're a little, more like Whaley than the fabric Castell, gelatos so I just went in and tried to, put a gelato over and it just sort of, white right away let's see what happens, when I put it let's see what happens, when I put the marabou over it it's, probably gonna do the same thing but not, quite as bad let's see this is called, coloring experiments with Kathy yay Oh, yep as I suspected same thing but not, quite as bad, so this scribble here I did when the, paper was virgin it hadn't been nothing, had been on that paper before except for, this black anchor so I think what I'm, gonna do is I'm going to take this page, and this page and maybe tomorrow or in a, live stream this week sometime I'm gonna, have these with some pasta paint pens, and I'll go back to my old standby the, Neo color tubes and see if I have a, white hopefully I do because I can't go, to the store right now I get one I'm, gonna find whatever paint pens I think, are gonna work over top and hopefully, these will be cured by that time and, they will work to use paint pens over, and that will be really really fun I, think these are gonna look awesome, with paint pen over them or just with, anything white and opaque that I can, actually sort of carve into the letters, so this is for anybody that's new here, hey Matt hi Kate Smith how are ya, and Mickey Bowman nice to meet you, so before what I was doing was I put I, did this gradient wash if you were with, marabou mixed media art crayons and the, fabric has stone gelato use my fingers, to smudge it all around I was using some, other tools but they weren't working out, so well I used I was using the stump and, I was using this is a this is a pottery, tool but you can get at any art supply, store and um you know my hands were just, working better my fingers were working, better so I used those and then I, thought I want to use something to carve, out those letters and to make a white, pop or to do a good to have a good, contrast so I didn't think these were, work right now and I was right they, didn't this is the Neo color Karen -, pastels because this surface is now, really smooth and oily a little bit oily, so these didn't have anything to grip on, but I think this is a really awesome, technique and I think that if I wait, like a day and then go into these later, after they have cured I think that they, will have then dried a little bit and I, think that the surface is going to be, better for going in with either a neo, color 2 or a neo color 1 or a pasta, paint pen or something of that nature, something where I can get a nice pop, over top and in between these lines and, just all detailed so that's the plan and, that's it, so I think I'm going to say goodbye for, today and we can, pick this up tomorrow with some paint, pens what do you think sound okay so, alright guys I will see you tomorrow and, have a great day bye, [Music], [Music]

,Ask HN: Why Services like Facebook ads/stripe are closing Venezuelan accounts?Services like Facebook ads/stripe are wrongly closing Venezuelan accounts

Venezuelan users have been reporting that different services such as facebook/instagram ads [1], heroku services [2], stripe atlas [3], sedo [4], and others, have been blocking venezuelan users and terminating accounts due to sactions that they didn't even care to read, the sactions are pretty explicit at targeting only individuals and officials of the government [5] and there is even licences that allow these services to operate [6] and a faq [7] where this is explained

Even kayak.com (and all booking holdings sites) stopped accepting venezuela as a country of origin for flights, (see: https://i.imgur.com/nAouvUB.png) with a learn more link that goes to [5], and it makes no sense at all despite how much we need to buy plane tickets as people is fleeing the country.

So, what's the deal with these services closing their doors to 30million venezuelans when the sactions are targeting a defined list of individuals?

Has anyone had the experience of your Host listings being turned off by AirBnB due to bringing to their attention problems with their platform and procedures?
John Cohen, NYC HostYes

AirBnB recently hid all my listings. At the same time they cancelled over 19 bookings adding up to over $7000 dollars most likely more. Here is a copy of the email sent to those inconvenienced persons.

Dear xxxx,
We were just informed by John Cohen that your accommodation starting on xxx, April xx, 2012 (reservation xxxxxxx) is no longer available. You should know that hosts are penalized for canceling reservations and removed from our site if they do so frequently.

I am no longer able to access my account to see my future payouts -- approximately $2000 dollars -- or when I will recieve $954.

At the suggestion of an experienced attorney I have backed all information that was in my account including changes that were occurring after AirBnB shut off my listings.

I cannot prove what the customer service supervisor said over the phone but I will quote 'We have discussed it among ourselves', 'There are simply too many customer service requests from your account', 'You can apply in two months to be re-instated.'

After careful review of the backups it appears to be 21 bookings not 17. As of this date several guests are living in my home. Booked through airBnB. I have no idea if I will be paid for their stay. Here is a short list of my Complaints that resulted in AirBnb hiding my listings.

1) Peer review process as implemented is being used by a few guests as a threat of a 'Bad review' if I do not bend to demands for services not offered. Or if I attempt to enforce the House rules such as under age drinking or cleanig up after themselves.( Threse guests have no reviews of their own.)

2) Security Hole. Apparently airBnB does not maintain any information of the Guest of the guest.

3) CSR who answer the phones are given extraordinary power to rush to a judgement without giving the Host the benefit of the doubt.

4) Reservvation panel is a Mess if you are a busy Host. Dificult to make heads or tales from this. Even the CSR.

5) Bad reviews which are not opinion but statements of Fact. Say about the cleanliness of a Host. 'Place smells like Garbage' Bathroom's are dirty' by a guest who frequently broke house rules.

6) A clear and convincing connection between Guests who them selves have no reviews making a complaint or bad review on a Host who has asked them courteously to obey House rules.

7) Repeatedly blocking out up to 10 days or more on a room until an investigation is complete. Finding the Host acted properly

8) Many of my customer service calls were about parts of the WebSite not working or learning how to nagivate it properly. I have bad eye sight and need new glasses. EG recently a part of the listings page failed to show up where
prominently it states Host has PETS. Two guests allergic to Cats appeared.

. Though my listing clearly states CATS. I had to have my House keeper Vacume 2,000 square feet. So that the guests could finish their bookings. My cats were trapped in my bedroom for two weeks.

9) Security deposit is not a security deposit. Never in my Life have I been
compelled to negotiate with a petty thief

Their is a lot more. 24/7 is not 24/7 due to the lack of enouph Human Infrastructure to handle the Volume of calls. Resulting in knee jerk reaction's
and bad decision making.

I cannot help get the feeling that AirBnb in my opinion would like low end Hosts to quietly fade and disappear in to the night.

This one will not.

The average star rating of my spare bed rooms was 4.5 Stars.

And who knows what else. (SPIONS)

I am a fundamentaly good New Yorker. I am confident that my fellow New Yorkers will hear my cry for HELP.

I have been crippled financially by AirBnB's actions. Humiliated. Down but not out. I have nothing to loose. I am old sickly.

I stayed here because I didn't want to
spend a fortune in a hotel, so I booked at John's place. My room was
pretty cozy, clean and had air conditioner (which was really helpful
on those cold nights). The living room/kitchen/dinning room was ok,
and I liked the fact that there were other guests living there as
well and I met a lot of interesting people. I would recommend your
stay here if you want to save money, socialize with other cultures
and know how to clean after yourself (important part). It is up to
you if you want a clean room. The walls are really thin and sometimes
you can hear everything from the room next to yours, but overall, it
is good place for low price.

Lauren
Don't expect luxury & do not come
here if you're allergic to cats as John has 2 (very cute) or if you
don't know how to clean up after yourself (you will get told!). This
place is secure and very affordable for those on a budget, the
beds/toilets/towels are clean and John offers coffee every morning.
All in all, if you can forego any frills and live in a hostel
environment, this is a good deal. If not, try the Waldorf Astoria.

Viola
The place is just two blocks from the
subway stop and it really takes 10 minutes to get to Manhattan so is
ideal if you don't want to waste your day travelling. I have found
quite a friendly bunch of people living in John's loft and John
himself is a very helpful person. I would suggest to guests who have
never seen NYC to ask him tips on what's worth seeing in the City.
The constant presence of coffee in the place was, also, very much
appreciate!!! My overall experience was pretty positive and I would
recommend it.

Peter
John was a very nice host. The room is
great value for money. Expect no luxury, 'this isn't the
Waldorf-Astoria', as John would say. But it's a room, more or
less private, allthough you can hear everything that's going on in
the livingroom. But if you're in NYC for a few days, it's a great,
cheap spot. The room I rented had some temperture-issues, the heater
was a bit hard to control, and made some loud noises sometimes, but
John told me this in advance. He was helpful all the way.

Kyle
It was a nice private room! John was
very helpful in getting me acclimated to New York City, and he even
made me a nice BLT sandwich right when I arrived!

David
Relacin calidad precio muy buena.
Barrio'aburrido' pero el piso est muy bien conectado
(parada de metro cerca). Spermercado cerca. Lo recomiendo
positivamente para pasar ah unas vacaciones. John personalmente me
libre. No s que hubiese pasado si no hubiera habido alguna
habitacin libre. En definitiva es un buen sitio para pasar tus
vacaciones en NY a muy buen precio.

Johannes
Best bang for the buck. Don't expect
luxury and don't be too picky, but there's everything you need and
it's a private room at a great rate. Quite uncomplicated, I could do
some short notice extension as I decided to stay one night longer,
and then even one more.

Iveta
I've recently stayed at the shared room
for 5 nights. It was a great experience, I can recommend this rental.
John is a great host, he is going out of his way to accommodate
everybody's requests. He is friendly and he is a great cook too! I am
planning to be back in New York at the end of April and I will stay
at this place again. I think that says a lot! it is a great place for
a great price.

New
Johns place is as described, a huge
and quiet loft that he built. Not luxury but its a good way to save
money if youre going to expend the whole day exploring the city.
Its close to the subway station wiht direct line to manhattan (A
and C line). John makes coffee every morning for the guests and he
cleans the bathrooms every morning as well.

Veronika
Great way to save money on a trip to
NYC. Bring your own blankets because it gets very cold at night and
there are none for you to use. The area is safe enough but it gets
very deserted at night. Coffee in the mornings was great. Don't
expect any privacy or luxury staying here but it is a cheap way to
see NYC. FYI, smoking is allowed indoors and there are two cats.
Average age of other guests is 22-25.

Camille
Another host nearby could not host me.
He sent me to John's place. As a young 18 year old french woman
traveling alone I am careful. The accommodations were incredible for
just $10. per day. $11. with the AirBnB fee. It is a medium size
room. Very bright. Sun drenched as the host John says. Though it has
4 twin beds on 2 wooden bunks and one twin it is not cluster phobic.
It is meant as a budget shared room to sleep in. The vanity was nice.
Storage that I locked with a padlock. The rest of the Loft is large.
Balcony's, gigantic rear deck and a giant private roof with nice
views including Manhattan. I had the room all by myself. But met
several interesting Europeans from Germany and Italy renting the
private rooms. The common area is large. Nice kitchen dining area.
Unusual. The large refrigerator is in the same room as the shower.
John is an artist. The shower room is large. The host was very
helpful. He showed me how to use the MTA Trip planner to efficiently
travel to my activities in Manhattan. John has to be the best Host on
AirBnB and possibly all of NYC ! Twice he made me a delicious meal !
3-4 Minute walk to Subway. A metro. 20 minutes 34 street Manhattan
off peak ! I am glad the other host cancelled. $10. nightly. safe,
clean convenient, food. #1 host and place to stay in NYC. Oh it is
$10. for thirty day stay. The price is more expensive for 3 days or a
week but still cheapest in NYC ! Thank you John. 5 stars. He deserves
10 stars !

Guido
John is a very good host... the loft is
in a good neighborhood just short walk from a supermarket and utica
subway station... and just 20 minutes far from Manhattan with public
transprtation!!! Sure i would be back there next time i'm going to
NYC! and if you are a good traveler who really wants to discover the
real life of the place you are visiting sure you'll enjoy this place.
Very safe, good wi fi connection, clean and easy! see you next time
John!

Patrick
This accomodation is by far the best
value for a short-stay room in New York that I have seen. The cost
for my own room per night actually worked out even cheaper than a
hostel where a person would share a full dormitory of 6-8 people.
This place was great value - and I had my own room. The host was very
helpful. My first experience of his helpfulness was when I noticed
that my computer cable had broken. When I asked him if he knew where
I could get a replacement in the city, he actually went out of his
way to fix the cable for me! He saved me a number of bucks doing
this, and also saved me the time it would have taken to locate the
replacement. Big thanks to him for that. And that was just the first
day. The host has coffee on the stove every morning. It is also
likely he will cook something for you a few times during your stay.
It could be a roast, or it could be a big breakfast sandwich that
will keep you going for a number of hours. The crowd that I came
across in the place was mostly young and vibrant and interesting. It
is a good place for you to meet up with like-minded adventurers in
the city of New York. The host has a large amount of very practical
local knowledge. He has a large willingness to share very useful
knowledge with you. This was invaluable for me because, as a
soon-to-be qualified attorney, I was in town to find out the
possibilities of locating a long-term apartment lease and a job in
the city. The host went out of his way to share his valuable
knowledge with me about these things. The host is worth listening to
carefully. The quality of the place was very satisfactory. If you are
a complainer or nit-picker, or have impossibly high standards, don't
waste anybody's time and get a 150 buck a night hotel instead.
However, if you want something with great value and have realistic
expectations of what great value is, then you will really benefit
from staying in a place like this. Even though I give a 4-star rating
(which is very good), I actually give the extra 5th star in the
rating when I factor in the price and all the extras. Again, have
realistic expectations for a place in this price range, and
appreciate good value when you see it, despite being a little rough
around the edges. Furthermore, as time goes on, the host continually
makes improvements to the place and has a genuine commitment to
creating accomodation that adds value to the people who stay there. I
expect the place will only become better and better in the future.

Matthew
5 stars! I had a great stay with John
in his loft apartment. His description of the living space is very
accurate. My room was clean and spacious, the loft was quiet through
the night (had no disruptions from flatmates in other rooms), the
bathrooms were clean and John even cooked 2 meals for me during my
stay (quite the chef I might add)! For the price range and location,
this listing can't be beat!

Stephanie
John is a welcoming friendly host.
Staying at his place in a private room beats staying at a hostel
sharing with 3-11 other unknowns. Also he makes sure he only rents to
non-sketchy people, which can only be a good thing. It's close to
Manhattan, the neighbourhood doesn't look safe but is actually
really ok and I doubt you can get a better deal than this. Peace out!

J. B.
John is a gracious and welcoming host.
The property is as described, and the bed is very comfortable. The
place (as stated) is rough-hewn, but clean, quiet., and comfortable.
The A train express is just two blocks away, so this is very
convenient to Manhattan.

Stephanie
We transferred to another room because
it was cheaper. But it's not that small - still a good size AND it's
private after all. John offered us some dinner one day which was
pretty darn good. He does keep things clean around here (but a lot of
it depends on other guests here too) so he's a good host.

Bettina
John's Place is very close to the train
station and in a safe area. I never felt insecure during the whole
stay. The rooms are in a loft and have all the advantages of a loft:
the common room, that everybody can use, is big and there are several
very big patios which is great for summer. You are welcome to use the
big kitchen and because John is a great cook, you should accept his
weekly invitation for a meal. John also knows a lot about New York
and has a lot of material and information to share. He answered my
E-mails amazingly fast and helped us a lot to find the way from the
airport to his place. On the other side, you should be aware, that
the walls in the loft are very thin and you can hear everything.
During the night it sometimes became very cold in the rooms, because
the rooms are very high and the heat accumulated under the ceiling.
There is just one shared shower for all. Altogether it's a nice place
to stay. But if you want to stay in New York for several weeks, you
should first test this place for some days and then decide if this is
the right place for you. Best wishes, Bettina

Isabella
The place is really nice and clean and
super close to the subway. My room had a beautiful view and a comfy
bed. John can be a little intense, on the first night he was quite
annoyed with me for catching a cab as he said cab drivers were
'crooks' but after that he was very helpful and pleasant.
Even gave me some delicious roast he made and let me hang out past
check out time. All in all it was a good experience.

Stephanie
Really nice spacious room which I
shared with my cousin and we had ample space for all our stuff. The
location is pretty near to the station, about five minutes walk away.
John is a really helpful host and made sure we had a place to stay on
New Year's night when he found out that we didn't have anywhere to go
for that night. And honestly I don't think you'll find a better deal
for the price you pay, especially if you're travelling alone in NYC
:)

Yoojin
I couldn't agree more with Nacio's
exact review. Close distance from subway station and warm rooms are
good. However, if you are sensitive to cigarette smoke, I don't
recommend this place. He smokes inside the house and rooms for guests
have a big glassless hole facing kitchen where he usually smoke.
Considering the cheap price of room, you may bear some shortcomings..
but I don't think it's comfortable to live for a long time in this
house.

Great stay, great location! John is a
perfect host. The room is big enough. The neighborhood is safe!

Adam
Hey travelers! I stayed at john's space
in crown heights, Brooklyn for 10 days & would recommend it to
any of you out there on a budget who don't need many frills. It feels
like a cross between a hostel & a friend's place - there were
long term & short term guests here - everyone was respectful &
quiet. Excellent value for money & steps away from 24 hour
transit anywhere in NYC. The shower needs improvement but it's a
great place to hang yer hat. Would/will stay here again. Thanks John,
Merry holiday everyone!!! Adam

Cristina
I wouldn't choose Jonn's in matter of
the size of the room. But it was comfortable and the practical
facilities all right. Besides the room there is a ' shared space'
where it is possible to spend time/ do activities if the space of the
room isnt 'satisfying' which works fine. The bed was fine.
Transport to Manhattan is easy.

Carmen
If you are considering a hostel, this
would be a much better choice. The rooms are private; there is a
fridge, basic cooking facilities and John makes coffee every morning.
John gives fair warning about the neighborhood and I certainly
wouldn't walk around late at night, but it is very near the train,
the grocery store and laundromat are walking distance and the
neighborhood folk are generally friendly. It is definitely worth the
price.

Giorgio
Nice room, close to subway station and
to everything, few minutes to Manhattan. Mattresses, sheetes and
pillows where new when we arrived. John is funny and very helpful, he
gave us a lot of advices.

Nirmal
Good place overall. Pros: own room with
lock and key, on A express line, cheap Cons: My clothes smelled like
smoke, cats kept me up 3 nights, the fridge is in the bathroom for
some reason. the area is a little ghetto but overall safe since very
close to the main road. John and everyone in the house is friendly
and keep the place clean, though i bought my own cleaning wipes and
cleaned the toilets few times. I expected that since the place has 9
rooms and just 2 toilets and 1 bathroom. john was very gracious and
offered dinner on more than 2 occasions. for $29 a night it was a
bargain.

It's a good place to stay for a few
weeks if you need an affordable homebase while you're exploring the
city The subway is just a short walk away, it takes about 20 minutes
to get to the west side of downtown Manhattan, which for New York is
very okay. John is a helpful host, often offering his guests food and
good advice or tips on where to go and how to get there. There is a
large common area with a kitchen that holds everything you need; the
bathrooms and shower are also shared by all. Rooms have loft beds,
drawers, chairs, tables, lamps - in short, everything you need. If
anything's missing, just ask; John is quite good at providing
anything extra (for example the extension cord and socket adapter I
needed to get comfortable in bed with my laptop). If you have any
more questions, just ask, I'll be happy to help you out.

Adam
I stayed at Johns place for just over a
week. The location of the place is great, only a short walk to the
train station and ~10 min to lower Manhattan. There was also on the
street parking easily available. John was a great host, provided me
information on how to get around and also recommended some places to
check out. Its great value for money, would stay here again if I'm in
NYC. Room was sun drenched and clean. He offered coffee every
morning. The complimentary BLT he made for me was delicious. If
anyone has any questions just send me an email.

Gracias John!

Very helpful when we had a last minute
emergency, my daughter was in New York without internet and I was in
Scotland and I had to find her somewhere quickly. He replied
immediately and made up the room for her. She says it was great to
have a private room and room to open a case and hang up clothes. Easy
to come and go as you get your own key and it's close to everything
you need especially the subway. She says she felt safe in the house
and the neighbourhood, even as a solo female. Complimentary coffee
was also nice as was the BLT he made one day.

What's your most underrated Squish? I cannot love Omari more. My favorite color is green and the beautiful blend of green, blue, and yellow tie dye always makes me smile. And don't get me started on the sparkly beak and fuzzy wings. 😭🥰

I made this jacket to express my Summer of Rage feelings. I altered the jacket by dyeing it black, hand-coloring the seams, reverse tie-dyeing the back patch and adding some Kruger love, creating interior pockets (thanks, women’s fashion…), and embroidering around patches.

T-shirt quilts are my jam! I designed this pattern a few quilts ago and it has done well to help squeeze everything in. I can post this on my page yet because it's a graduation gift but I know the kid isn't in here so you all get to see it first! The binding is hand dyed by a tie dye artist buddy.

Around 2 years ago I saved this photo on a post from u/dancinfool830 to help me get started on my tie dye journey without breaking the bank. Today, I want to return the favor. I retyped it and color coded it so it's easy to read. Thank you, stranger. You helped me a lot.

I did some tie dye a couple days ago and attempted to make a mandala pattern, which…did not turn out as planned. But I used Loona’s colors, which did turn out okay! To redeem myself, I’m including my rainbow spiral so that you can see I’m not terrible at it.
