hi everyone, um welcome to the BTO youth draw along, so I'm Lucy I'm a youth representative, uh currently based in Oxford and the, draw along is going to be led by Alicia, who is a super talented Wildlife artist, and also a member of the youth advisory, panel for the BTO, so uh today we're going to be looking at, Autumn and we're going to be learning, how to draw geese Red Wings and waxings, and we're just gonna have a quick, presentation now to learn a bit more, about them and also discuss the, significance of autumn, so we're currently in autumn autumn, Equinox was actually celebrated on the, 23rd of September this year and Autumn, Equinox is the kind of astrological, definite definition of autumn where the, sun crosses the equator line heading, south and it marks the end of summer and, we can see this with the days becoming, shorter and the sun becoming lower in, the sky and it also matches up with the, kind of phenological autumn which is, where we see changes in the biology and, ecology around us, so like spring autumn is a season of, lots of change and also preparation for, the winter ahead of us, many of our breeding species so it's, spent this some summer and spring in the, UK have um headed further south to enjoy, a warmer winter so this is species like, Swifts and swallows but also birds like, Ospreys and also gannets, and at the same time we have birds and, other migrator species beginning to, arrive here to spend the winter, um which is milder than where they've, come from, and we also have lots of animals taking, advantage of the Wild Harvest available, so berries and nuts for example jays and, squirrels are both stocking up on lots, of acorns at the moment and we have, other species that are shutting down, ahead of winter so going into, hibernation uh animals or mammals like, hedgehogs but also some of our insects, like butterflies actually over winter in, the UK and go into a form of hibernation, as well, so this year we're experiencing a false, Autumn and you can see this with the, kind of signs of autumn occurring, earlier than we would usually expect so, for example blackberries ripened a lot, earlier this year and also leaves, started to fall earlier than usual and, this is because of climate change and, the drought we've experienced this, summer plants are implementing water, conserving strategies and we don't know, what the effect that will be, um on the kind of synchronicity between, species for example are migratory, species which might rely on some of this, food, so uh the first thing we'll be drawing, is geese, um so like lots of our waterfowl um, geese arrive in the wind in the UK in, the winter, um coming from kind of Arctic locations, across northern Europe and they come, here for food, um and can be found on our coasts in our, farmland and wetlands across the country, so um species like Brent's Barnacle, geese white fronted Bean geese so, um for example pale belly Brent geese or, our smallest Goose they come all the way, from Greenland on a 4 600 kilometer, Journey many of them will have stopped, over in Iceland where they've put on up, to 40 of their body weight, um we have 400 000 pink-footed geese, arriving in the UK and they will have, come from, um Iceland and completed uh 12 to 24, hour Journey having spent a few weeks at, Sea previously where they malt new, flight feathers, and we also have Barnacle geese which, are actually named because no one knew, where they were coming from when they, arrived in Autumn and it was said that, they hatched from Goose Barnacles which, are the same color as them, so um when geese on the ground they're, called gaggles and when they're flying, they fly in skins or skins, um they honk to stay in contact with the, birds around them which is why they're, so noisy and a lot of geese actually, have a white rump which is meant to be, so they can, um it's used as like a marker to show, the birds behind them, um and keep them together, and they often also travel in this like, classic v formation and this is actually, to increase the Energy Efficiency of the, whole flock so the individual at the, front kind of breaks up the air and, gives a lift to the birds behind it and, they rotate this position of the front, individual and the more experienced, birds have been shown to spend longer at, the front which is pretty cool, um so next up we have the red one, um and this is the smallest thrush in, the UK so it's a member of the thrush, family which also includes blackbirds, ring easels song and missile thrashes, and the both both the migratory um, overwintering crashes which are Red, Wings and field fares so Red Wings have, this um white eye stripe above their eye, and they're also named after the kind of, orangey red coloration under their wing, and so they arrived to the UK in October, after spending their breeding season in, Scandinavia and Iceland although we, actually have about 13 pairs which spend, the whole year in the UK um up in, Scotland where it's cold enough for them, to breed, so the Red Wings that arrive here have, completed a really dangerous 800, kilometer Journey Over the Sea and in, really rough conditions actually loads, of them can just drown, um they migrate at night like actually, quite a lot of birds do and it means, that on cold clear Autumn nights if you, go outside you might be able to hear, them flying overhead with this, high-pitched sea call, um so come here to feed they feed on, berries and invertebrates and they feed, in these big flocks which you can see in, fields and parks and when it gets really, cold and snowy and their normal food, resources limited they actually can be, seen in our Gardens too which is, exciting and red wings are kind of one, of the iconic Autumn species which is, said to hail the arrival of autumn, um I haven't actually seen my first Red, Wing yet but I know some people are, seeing them in the first week of October, which is exciting, and uh finally maybe the most beautiful, bird we'll be drawing today, um maybe I'm biased is the waxwing um, which is much more of a scarce visitor, to the UK so they're really distinctive, birds with this Crest and they're named, after the red wing tips to some of their, flight feathers which is said to look, like drops of ceiling wax, um and that more of a nomadic rather, than a migratory species so their, arrival to the UK is much more, unpredictable and they can be seen, um in most years in Scotland and maybe, the east coast of England but when their, food resources are limited compared to, the bird population in their breeding, range huge numbers of them actually, leave the range and can be come to the, UK in thousands, um of birds and the ideas are called, eruption years and they can be seen much, further Inland and in larger groups than, normal, and because they love to feed on berries, and their favorite tree is actually the, Roman Tree which are planted as, ornamental trees and many of our urban, areas the places you can see waxings are, very random like Supermarket car Parks, um and you can often hear them they're, said to sound like the ringing of sleigh, bells, um so definitely keep an eye out, especially if you hear that it's an, eruption year because you never know, where you might see them, so um thank you for that quick, introduction to our Birds, um I hope this encourages you to kind of, go out in the Autumn and have a look at, the changes around us and spot migrating, birds that are arriving whether that's, um going out at dusk to see the geese, arriving at your local Wetland or trying, to head out a night to hear Red Wings, so just quickly before we go on to the, actual drawing draw along I'll just talk, about a few of the other things that the, BTO does so the equipment donation, scheme is a chance for individuals and, school groups and to get their hands on, some equipment like binoculars and bird, guides so if that's something you might, be interested in definitely have a look, at the equipment donation scheme on the, BTO website, we also run lots of events whether, that's online or in person with a youth, representative in their local area so, have a look at the youth events page on, the BTO website to see what else is out, there, um actually next week we have the youth, in nature Summit in Manchester, um so this is free for all under 30 year, olds and it will be a chance to hear, really cool speakers and just to connect, with other young people who are, interested in nature, and we also have the next series of, birding 101 coming soon so definitely, look out for that, um yeah if you want to check out the BTO, website you can look at the youth wrap, presentatives for your area and you can, follow the BTO on social media on, Twitter Facebook or Instagram to hear, what else they're up to and now I'll, pass over to Alicia and we can learn to, draw these birds, hi so as Lucia said um we are, um both part of um BCA Youth and I'm on, the youth advisory panel I'm still going, to be teaching you how to draw three, different kinds of birds and as part of, our awesome draw along so we're going to, be doing geese as part of the geese, migration, um Red Wing and also a wax spring and, we're going to start with the geese as a, kind of a warm-up activity, um geese this is gonna be what we're, going to be aiming to draw and we're, going to make swimming patterns and, shapes, um the next thing we're going to be, drawing is the red ring I'm exploring, these color and again a bit more bit of, different techniques and finally we're, going to be drawing the waxing which is, going to be full fully colored so um, you're just going to be needing I'm, going to be using a brush pen which is, just one of these with a nice thick nib, um but you can use a felt tip pen or a, pencil, um I'll be using a little pencil as well, to do some of the sketches, um first and then for the um Red Wing, ideally you'd need a red pen please um, just to add that little red detail and, the berries and things and with the Wax, Wing I'm going to be using, um hand paints which are these but, they're quite like watercolors and you, can use anything on pencil pen paint, like honestly anything and just to add, that color of the waxing because they're, so such colorful but as an Autumn is, such a beautiful really vibrant time of, the year, so um, as I said we're going to start with the, yeast so let's get started, so um the pitch that we're going to be, drawing from is hopefully on the screen, now I'll pop it on in post, um we're obviously looking at a big, cloud of yeast in this um but I'm going, to pick out just a few, um I think the big thing about when, you're drawing a big flock of animals is, trying to work out those patterns, because obviously they produce persons, when they're flying but um their wings, are forming lots of different pastants, as well, and so yeah, I think the big thing is looking at what, shapes they form so quite a lot of the, yeast have both their wings up so we're, going to start by drawing one of them, so they've always got this nice curve at, the underside of their body like that, and this then goes into the neck of the, bird which is just a sort of smooth line, outwards like so, you want to tail curve the tail of the, bird into a just just like this and then, this is going up into two wings so one, is going backwards slightly in a, triangle and one is going forward, slightly in a sort of curved triangle, like so, and then this steps down into the neck, of the bird and the head of the bird, so that's one of your geese, and then with all of these because it's, kind of a pattern I'm just going to, shade them in, so I'm just filling them in with the, brush pen, likes, because there's lots of yeast migrating, and they're all in different positions, we're going to do a few of the different, shapes so this is a warm-up activity so, it is going to be about five minutes, so the next one that we're going to draw, has its wing going downwards so we're, going to start to the back end of the, goose and move it up into a slight hump, like so and then bring it out into the, neck and hump a little hump for the head, then we're going to continue the neck of, the bird, and then pull down into the wing which, again is a triangle shape, and connect that up to the tail which is, a small triangle at the end, once again just fill that in, so the next gears that we're going to, select from the image is one which has, its wing kind of half coming up so I, think the nice thing about drawing birds, in Flight is that you can see the kind, of their Anatomy as they move, so this one we're going to start with, the wing because it's a bit of a funny, shape it's a sort of like, like a lead shape like if you imagine a, bookshelf or a book it's that kind of, shape, so, that's the shape I'm describing and, that's the movement that the wing is is, making the shape the Moon is making, and that curves into a little pointed, tail and then dips down into the belly, of the geese, and then out again into the neck of the, bird, and then the head and the beak, so you can see what I'm doing as well as, I'm trying to place them on a page where, it looks like they're kind of moving in, formation because geese often move in, that nice V shape, so the next one we're going to do is, going to go about here and that's going, to have both of its wings going down, this time, but you can see both whereas and some of, the others you can only see one, so, again we're going to start with the tail, of the bird, and move it up into the hump of the back, and then straighten it out into the neck, and the head, and then because you can see both Wings, going down it's like two triangles on, top of each other, so you've got the first triangle, and then the second triangle, and then connecting up to the neck, and again just filling it in, like so, so the next one has just one One Wing, going down again it's a bit like this, one, just to finish the last button, so again it's just a triangle down and, then straight across a little hump for, the head and it's just a straight line, for the beak just kind of going straight, out, so we've got two more to do to kind of, finish the formation, so this one has One Wing going up and, One Wing going down because you know, there's another stage of them even, so we're going to start with the upward, Wing which is kind of like a rectangle, but oblong maybe it's it's kind of on, its when it's siding being stretched out, and then this goes into the the tail of, the bird, and also into the neck and the head, like so, and then down into the point of the the, pointer triangle of the of the other, wing, so, rectangle triangle and then like a, straight line going through the two, and finally we've just scanned it we're, just going to do one more which has its, wing Just One Wing going up, so we start with the tail this time, it's just a sort of straight line, then going up into a slightly curved, triangle which has a flick at the top, like so, and that's the wing, and then curving into the, Belly of the goose, and then up into the, head and the bill, and there you go that's that's the kind, of I want that some patterns, um so he's migrating a real lovely, awesome Phenom, um if you've seen it please say in the, comments it's always lovely to see them, so while you're finishing off I'm gonna, get their next bird up so the next thing, we're going to be drawing is a red wing, so again one another really beautiful, bird to see in autumn, um here we go, I'll just take us back to, the one that we're going to be aiming, for so anything like this, and we're going to just bring out the, colors of the berries and a little bit, of the color under which Wing it's it's, red wing it's namesake and as you can, see with this bird we've just focused on, one and we've also added some detail, around its feathers um because Red Wings, are a remember the thrush family so, they've got these beautiful Speckles on, its belly around its eyes Etc and so, we're gonna be focusing on a little bit, of shapes again we're mostly on this, technique and adding this color for the, first time as well, same, if you get a new sheet of paper, we're gonna, sketch this out in pencil first I think, so, or if you haven't got a pencil pet is, fine again but I'm just gonna go through, shapes first, so, um with the Red Wing again I've popped, the reference photo here I hope, um so the red ring has got a beautiful, circular face so we're going to start, with just sketching that out nice and, simple, and then we're going to continue that, face into the beak of the bird so the, beak is just a kind of curved triangle, it's quite it's quite a slim beak, um, just like so it's kind of halfway up, that Circle that you do for the face, and slightly curved at the end, and it goes down into a to connect back, up to that Circle, and then, it comes out again into the chest, so you want to just kind of do a curved, line coming from that Circle coming, outside and and then going in underneath, the bird because obviously it's sitting, on this Branch with the berries, and I'm going to pop back up and, continue the the, um back of the bird and the neck, so that again just a nice curved line, around like so, it's kind of I don't know like a like a, boat shape, um if you want a sheep to compare it to, um okay so then we're gonna continue, just that basic outline so curving it, round and continuing into the tail just, here, like, so, we're also going to mark on the wing of, the bird so that's um it's about here, kind of it's quite high up on on the Red, Wing kind of shoulder area of the bird, so it's sort of here I'm gonna Mark that, one with a nice straight line and then, kind of continue it, just because, the feather comes across the wing comes, across like that, so just a nice straight line if you, think about it it's like a triangle in, the middle of the bird, so feel free to mark it on as a triangle, if that's easier, and we're also going to mark on the feet, so the feet are coming up from kind of, this area of the wing so if you can, imagine where this Ridge is from this, from the kind of the the smaller primary, feathers if you kind of Imagine drawing, a diagonal line down the, um leg nearest starts here so again, we're just going to mark that on with a, couple of straight lines curve it round, and then it gets a little bit narrower, coming down towards the branches, Branch it's nice and narrow I'm walking, on the edges of the feet which are just, again straight lines, curving with the nail, so, and then we're going to mark on the, other leg which is exactly the same but, just a tiny bit smaller, Detective, and again marking on those, holes, I'm going to Mark the branches just one, sort of smooth, line like so, and the berries are just circles, something again Mark those on, nice and clearly, and I'm doing them around its feet, because in the photo it is resting on a, lot of them, but you can put them wherever you fancy, your your image can be full of red, berries, the last thing we're going to mark on, and pencil is the eye of the bird and, again and it's just a nice Circle just, opposite the bill, like to say, okay so if you're ready hopefully to, continue feel free to pause if you're, not ready, um we're gonna start adding pen and um, some of those techniques that we talked, about, so we're going to start with the bill so, just following over your pencil line, into the head of the bird and you're, literally just kind of going over at, this point you're not adding, anything new we're just making that that, line nice and, nice and strong, and also the good thing about making, these lines nice and strong is if you, want to color your burden you've got a, nice outline, in Black just to, to do it to go over again, okay so just yeah just continuing, following your pencil lines, the, the berries, everything, you just want to have it nice and clear, I'm walking on the branch as well, okay so once you've got your basic, outline and we're going to start adding, some of the detail and practicing some, of those techniques that I've done in, previous drawings, um so the big thing is the wing so, you've got these nice staggered parallel, lines showing the feathers of the wing, so we're going to Mark those on first so, we're just following this line the, straight line that you've done is the, main bit of the wing we're just going to, layer with you on top, and you don't have to hold your pen the, whole way down and it's better if you, just kind of stroke it really gently, like so, if you if you do it as delicately as, possible don't press down the full way, then you can get this kind of like, slightly more um, like kind of faded effect I guess, and because the wing has feathers going, this way as well as this way we're going, to mark on a few of those, we're also get a mark on the kind of the, primary feathers the smaller feathers so, that's just a couple of like L-shaped, lines are linked together and we're, going to indicate the fact that these, continue across the the shoulder of the, bird the back of the bird like the same, so we're going to mark on the nostril, next and the eye of the birds we're, going to hop up to the face for a little, bit, so that I I always like to keep um a, little bit of a white Sparkle because I, think it gives them a bit more character, so when you're filling it in if you do, this kind of thing so kind of press down, mostly on one side and flick up at the, other, and then that gives you that nice little, white white flesh and then you kind of, go across like so to give it a little, eyebrow, so, like that, we're also going to mark on the nostril, which is just little little black spot, and the edge of the bill which is just a, nine, he looks quite unhappy you know we've, added that okay so the next thing that, we want to be doing is adding these, Speckles so a lot of this is just this, kind of movement so kind of, like, you're pressing down a lot to start with, them flicking off and that gives it this, nice kind of, like raindrop shape, and because it's a speckled, um because Red Wings are speckled this, works quite well, so we're gonna do that kind of movement, on the rest of the bird so this bit here, so just, pressing down and then flicking up, I'm gonna do some by its feet and, there's a few of the rump as well, you can do your FL your flicks close, together or far apart and you can have, as many as you want, there's a few on the back of the bird, just indicating some feathers and stuff, there we go, okay so the red wing also has this white, stripe, near its eye and so we're gonna indicate, that by showing some of the dark patches, instead so, um perhaps if I show you what I've done, before that's a little bit easier to, explain, so, um this is the white patch here and what, we're wanting to do is make this nice, Black Ridge here to indicate the fact, that there is a white range so you're, kind of just doing a little bit of a, comparison so using these these um, patterns to kind of highlight the fact, that something said that we're not, drawing, so for this red ring we're just going to, do the same kind of, flicking technique but a little bit, closer together, I'm kind of hinting at the the dark, patch on the top of the head and not, going too near the eye because that's, where the white patch is, okay, so once you finish that I'm gonna start, adding a little bit of color, so in this piece I want to use color, quite sparingly, um because I just think it will make it, more impactful for when you use it so, I'm just going to be using two different, shades of red, um so the first is this kind of rusty, red because that's what's under the the, um wing of the bird is a red wing that's, where it gets its name, and so I'm just going to literally kind, of Mark that on, almost just blocking it it doesn't need, to be speckled because it's quite a, blocked area on the bird itself I've, added a couple of little speckles but, just looking at that image you know most, the red is under the wing, and then there's this little patch by, its neck as well which I'll just mark on, using the same kind of raindrop, technique that we mentioned earlier, and then with the berries I'm going to, do the same kind of, um shape of the eyes so kind of pressing, down a lot on one side and then flicking, up to make this white patch because the, berries are really shiny, and so, just filling them in, you don't have to do it like this but, it's just how I quite like doing it, and then it will have to have the shine, there you have it so, a red wing with some red berries, so hopefully, hopefully that was, that made sense so the last bird that, we're going to be drawing is the waxwing, I'll say again I'll get those up on this, foreign, foreign, so our next bird as I said is the, waxwing and with this one we're going to, be adding color, um and we're not going to be doing the, same with her black guidance lines that, we've been doing a lot of the other um, drawings, so for this ideally it'd be good to have, some paints or some brushes or some, pencils something to add a bit of color, to the wax thing but we're going to, start off just with a pencil, sketching the wax wings outline, um similar to how we did the Red Wing, and once again reference photo hopefully, around here somewhere, okay, so we're going to start off the same way, we did with the Red Wing just drawing a, nice Circle for the wax wings head, um and we're going to curve that down, from this side because it's looking, right into the back of the wax thing, kind of comes out where the feather is, and then goes down in a sort of, straightish line, into a curves and then it's going to go, into the tail, it's kind of a guidance line for us, we're going to mark on that the wax, wings gorgeous Crest so that's a nice, straight line from kind of this side of, the circle so the right hand side of the, circle you want a straight line going up, just like so and kind of like curving, slightly flicking, I'm just going to indicate the edge, roughly of the crest, and then we're going to continue that, out into a really short stubby bill it's, kind of an almond shape, and this goes down into a kind of, slightly feathered, as in not a straight line, um, front of the throat through of the bed, before curving out, into the chest, actually I'm going to take out my rubber, because I've not made my last thing, nearly as wide as it needs to be, um so, we're going to continue that front of, the wax thing, down it's kind of I suppose the whole, the whole bird is quite kind of oval, shaped if you can imagine an oval like, this that's kind of the shape it's, making, um, and then, the back of the boat down like the same, and the the tail of the bird is kind of, not quite straight but it's, like this and it's kind of sort of like, an m shape at the end you see it's got a, nice wiggle, like so, and then the edge of the wing is just a, straight line marked with a curve, we've got two feet coming out of the, bottom just small details it's a nice, just a straight line and a couple of, flicks for the toes and then indication, of that Branch with a couple of smooth, slightly curved lines, I'm also going up on that curve of the, of the bill and how that goes into the, eye which is again a circle but it's, kind of following this black patch up, and it's also pointed at the corners, so we're gonna Mark that one, okay, so with with this I just want to make, sure that we get that nice outline, properly so the crest of the birds and, the kind of black markings here and here, and the eye the slight curve of the bill, which I've made two pointy, um, and then the kind of big oval back and, body of the bird coming into this tail, which has got a little bit of a yellow, patch at the end which I will mark on, so it's a really magnificent really, striking autumnal winter bird, there's always like a pleasure to see in, the UK, how many of you have seen white swing do, you let us know, okay, foreign, the first thing that I'm going to note, is that um, is that we've got this, um I and we've got some detail on the um, beak of the bird and some detail here, a lot of this I've mopped out in a in a, brown pen just because I wanted us to, focus on color rather than the shapes of, this bird, so I'm going to do the same here so this, is where it depends what you've got I'm, using a brown brush pen, um but feel free to use pants pens or, pencils if you've got brown that is, ideal but no worries if you don't you, can do it in Black instead, um so we're just going to kind of do the, outline so kind of following roughly, what we did before, we're going to do these L's that we did, for the Red Wings showing the the, smaller feathers and we're going to do, some use for the bigger feathers just, here, and same on the other side, we're gonna mark on the chest of the, bird as well so that's mostly just, following your pencil line, it's got a curve here kind of dips in, slightly and then it comes back out, again, and then at the bottom you can see it's, slightly fluffy so we're going to just, do that thing where we kind of Dash on, and off the page slightly and give it, that feathered, approach notice rather than just a, straight line, we're also going to continue it up, slightly into the, into the head of the bird but again that, kind of stroking it rather than making, it a straight line, and that's all I'm going to draw on him, in the brown pen, next I'm going to use my kind of, ready pen, and um, I'm gonna, Mark that on with I'm gonna do the crest, the bird, so again we're starting from the black, bit that we marked on here we're, starting from just above that again, following your line but because it's a, Crest it doesn't need to be a straight, line and it's better if you do this sort, of slightly like, like you're stroking the page like this, sort of, so you're lifting off but you're kind of, making continuous movement and it makes, it kind of jagged and so when you're, doing the quest of the bird it works, really well, just like so, I'll pop a punk head you, um, okay the next thing we're going to do is, we're going to mark on the other red bit, that goes down into the back of the eye, just like, so, I'm just going to add some of that, detail, kind of technique, there's a tiny bit of red, um ready kind of Pinky red here and here, as well which I'm just going to mark on, like so, and so it's again just this constant, brushing brushing technique, next I'm going to mark on some of that, yellow, so it's got yellow Sparks here and sort, of going down on the edges of its, all of its wings at the, um, at the base of the bird, so I'm just marking these on with the L, shapes and then with the ones at the, bottom I'm literally just going to kind, of shading what we marked out before, and I'm going to mark on some of those, black feathers too so just continuing, those, this line so it's an it's kind of like a, like a tick shape, um on the wings here, and then the same the other way, and they also continue up to slightly, these parallel lines that we did before, on the Red Wing, and we're also going to mark on that, black throat of the bird and also around, its eye so again just kind of slightly, on and off, to give it that nice textured, feel and then kind of filling it in, more or less, we're also gonna mark on the, little, and the eye using the same technique, that we used in the Red Wing to kind of, flicking it slightly to give it that, nice shine, foreign, exit, and the last color that we need to work, on is just these little red tiny red, feathers that are coming on over here, and here are the edges of the wing so, we're just going to Mark those on with, just couple of red lines, like so, and the feet, and the feet were just marking the black, um, ripping a bunch like so, anyway fantastic so we've got our, outline in pen I'm done now and so next, if you you can keep going in pen you can, do pencil you can do paint and as I, mentioned, um oh yeah I'm going to be using, and this lime wash and paint handset, which is very like watercolor, um so I've not got loads of colors but, um you can mix your colors to get the, colors you need, and so the main color we're going to be, eating is a kind of like a beige color, um it's sort of pinky pinky Brown and, that's the color of the Wax Wing and, it's sort of like this, this okay so that's kind of the color, that I'm gonna go for, and it's literally just a case of, filling, pulling your bird in, so I always try and keep, um darkest around the edges, so you see there's more kind of, um kind of dark darkness around the kind, of shoulders this this patch of the bird, really, and this pouch so I start with putting, my paint down there and then kind of, make it get a little bit lighter towards, the the center, and when going up into the head of the, waxing as well, okay, okay, foreign, next once you've done that kind of the, beige body of of the um Wax Wing So the, crust is kind of really orange so kind, of, mixing some Reds and some oranges it's, very very colorful very, very striking, that sort of color and then again it's, darkest near the eye where it smells, vibrant and then it gets less vibrant so, kind of just following, following your Lines within your lines, you can get out them of course if you, want, just like so, I'm adding a little bit more of that, blush detail, blend it slightly, like so, the next thing is this kind of slate, gray kind of blue tail of the wax ring, and it also is a little bit here as well, on the color of the front, so, for that, I'm gonna use, some kind of please, a little bit of Gray, and then again just kind of, if you're using paints it's nice to try, and blend them with what you've already, put down you can use your fingers for, like I do or um or the brush, stuff like so, and then there's quite a lot of dark, gray at the very bottom of this just, before the yellow that you've already, filled in so for that I'm just going to, use some, big standard Gray, which I have lost, I'm just flicking up, up slightly going up from those those, yellows that we've already done, then obviously you've got the black, which is these bits here just marking, these on, and again on the other side, leaving a little bit at the edge because, obviously there's some white bits on, if you don't want to lose, I'm coloring in the Bill about the same, kind of slatey color, and the feet, um and then the only other thing to do, is the tree branches sitting on which is, just a sort of, brown color, and there you go, that's your colored rat swing, um and you should be able to achieve, these effects using anything you want, keeping dark patches towards the edges, moving lighter into the center you can, do that with pencils you can do it with, pen if you use cross hatching techniques, which again we've talked about in, previous drawings, um and I can do a revisiting session for, those techniques if people would like me, to, um but yeah so that's that's your color, relaxing and that's all of the birds for, today so I really hope that you've, enjoyed, um the drawn on and um thanks for taking, part and if you'd like to see more, drawings if you'd like to see particular, Birds um Lucy nice to do then please let, us know in the comments so we'll get in, touch via the Beauties website, thank you
